Nairobi → Masai Mara
Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi, followed by a short briefing before driving to the Masai Mara National Reserve. Enjoy a scenic journey through the Great Rift Valley with a brief stop at the viewpoint.
With packed lunch boxes from Nairobi, you arrive around midday and start your first game drive en route to your camp. Explore the vast savannah plains and spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, and possibly lions or cheetahs.
In the late afternoon, exit the reserve and head to your mid-range tented camp for check-in and relaxation.

Full-Day Masai Mara
After an early breakfast, depart with picnic lunch boxes for a full-day game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve, focusing on the Mara River crossing points. This day is dedicated to tracking the Great Migration, where wildebeest and zebras gather along the riverbanks.
Your guide follows herd movements to locate crossing action as animals line up before plunging into crocodile-filled waters — one of Africa’s most dramatic wildlife spectacles. Along the way, you may also spot lions, elephants, buffalo, and other predators following the migration.
Enjoy a picnic lunch near the river before continuing your game drive in the afternoon. Return to camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight at your lodge.

After an early breakfast, depart the Masai Mara National Reserve and drive to the Isebania Border to complete immigration before entering Serengeti National Park. Continue to Northern Serengeti and begin your game drive on arrival.
Focus on the Mara River crossing points within the migration corridor, where wildebeest and zebras move between Kenya and Tanzania. Your guide tracks herd movements to position you near active crossing areas.
Expect strong wildlife action, including lions, hyenas, and crocodiles, as you follow the migration across open plains. Proceed to your camp in the afternoon for dinner and overnight.

Begin the day with an early sunrise game drive in Northern Serengeti, offering a final chance to witness Mara River crossing action or early morning predator activity. The cooler hours provide excellent wildlife sightings and photography light.
Continue south to Central Serengeti with an en-route game drive, entering the Seronera region known for year-round wildlife and high big cat concentration.
Spend the afternoon exploring prime lion, leopard, and cheetah territory, along with elephants, giraffes, and buffalo. Arrive at your camp in the evening for dinner and overnight in the Serengeti.

After an early breakfast, depart Serengeti National Park and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive.
Known as Africa’s “Garden of Eden,” the crater offers one of the highest concentrations of wildlife, including black rhino, lions, buffalo, elephants, hippos, and abundant plains game within a compact landscape.
Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before ascending in the afternoon and continuing to Arusha for drop-off at your hotel or airport, marking the end of your Kenya–Tanzania safari.

Each year more than 1.5 million wildebeest, zebra and gazelle migrate between the Serengeti and Masai Mara. From July to September the herds hit the Mara River — the most dramatic hour in the bush.
Although river crossings cannot be guaranteed due to the unpredictable movement of the herds, a 5 Day Kenya and Tanzania Safari during migration season offers an exciting opportunity to experience this natural phenomenon while enjoying exceptional wildlife viewing across both countries.

This is the most popular safari season when millions of wildebeest and zebra move between Serengeti and Masai Mara. Travelers may witness dramatic river crossings and excellent predator action during this period.
December – March (Best for Predator Sightings)
These months offer excellent wildlife viewing with fewer crowds. The weather is generally dry and sunny, making it a great time for photography and game drives.
April – May (Green Season)
April and May fall within the long rainy season in East Africa, and this period is generally not recommended for this 5 Day Kenya and Tanzania Safari. Heavy rains can make some roads muddy and difficult to navigate, particularly in remote areas between Masai Mara National Reserve and Serengeti National Park.

This was such an amazing trip that covered the Ngorongoro crater area with all its wildlife roaming freely, the Serengeti and the migration of the wildebeest crossing over into Kenya.
